Sport and Physical Activity (Level 3)

Exam Board: OCR

The course is equivalent to one A-Level, carries the same UCAS points and is based upon passing two exams and completing assignment work including some practical assignments in sports coaching and the delivery of sporting events.

Assessment

Cambridge Technicals are externally moderated through exams in Units 1 and 3, with Units 2, 8 and 19 having moderated assignment work. 

The mandatory units are:

Unit 1: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
Unit 2: Sports Coaching
Unit 3: Sports Organisation and Development

The optional units are:

Unit 8: Organisation of Sports Events
Unit 19: Sport and Exercise Psychology 

Where can it lead?

Sport is one of the fastest-growing industries in the UK and is not just about being a professional performer. There is a huge range of professions within sport, from grass roots through to international level, covering areas such as corporate sponsorship, nutrition, marketing, therapy, sports management and coaching. Possible future careers and university courses in: teaching, fitness instructor, sports and business, event management, sports development officer and physiotherapist.
