Accelerated Reader Update

Due to lockdown during the summer term the school was unable to reward our current Year 8s and 9s for their hard work and achievements with Accelerated Reader; but we hadn’t forgotten!

Over the past two weeks we have been distributing prizes and certificates to the students who had attained the coveted ‘Millionaire’ status. These are students who have read a million words or more over the course of the last academic year.

We also identified those students who made an extra effort during the lockdown period. All students who passed five or more quizzes whilst learning from home received a selection box in recognition of their efforts. There were also several students who received special recognition for going above and beyond whilst working remotely.

All students had a raffle ticket for every quiz they passed and three students from each year were drawn at random and also awarded a prize.

Two students from each Year 7 class were also give a small prize for their achievements during the Autumn term.

A special shout out to the following students:

Year 8

TY – set a new school record having read 4,537, 504 words!!

JO – the only student in Year 8 to read one million words during the lockdown period.

EH – smashed all quizzing records, passing an astounding 86 quizzes during the lockdown period alone!

Year 9

JC – has read 3,644,597 words, the most in Year 9. He was also the only student to read over a million words during the lockdown period.

ML – has passed more quizzes during the lockdown period than anyone else in her year.

Well done to Year 7, 8 & 9 for continuing with their reading, keep up the amazing work!
